Organising an event is stressful, but when the host is studying, working and travelling overseas, your best option is to call in A Couple of Nerds.

We love getting nerdy over events, especially uniquely styled ones! With a budget set, theme in mind and the absolute musts (cocktails and great food!), we had all we needed to find THE location fit for this birthday girl.

Located atop the Oriental Teahouse on Melbourne’s Chapel St, right away we knew Miranda’s perfect location was Zhou Zhou Bar & Lounge. Her tastes showcased a deep love and respect of the orient, her trip was to the land of the rising sun itself, and she wanted something relaxed but fun for all her friends and family to enjoy.

We quickly set up a meeting with Yanan of Zhou Zhou and discovered a lovely, atmospheric and low maintenance space – with unique and clever decor perfectly suited to the room.

As well as booking the space on a Saturday night, we chose a variety of dumplings, had three special cocktails available on tab and even a separate bar tab for the guests that prefer their alcohol less sweet – all fitting within Miranda’s set budget.

After working closely with our client to set a 50 person guest list, we created invitations (that were a hit with the guests), organised desserts (another hit) and ensured the space was set up just as planned for the night. The beautiful macarons were made and put together by Don’t Tell Charles, a funky cafe in Kensington. We recommend the salted caramel and Oreo flavours!

Most importantly though, for Miranda’s special day – her night was a hit.

The party was perfectly organised because Yianna and Andrew were so easy to work with and it was nice that they accommodated my needs so well. It ran so smoothly on the night and every second conversation I had with guests was about how amazing the party is. I wasn’t a stressed hostess because everything was so well planned. – Miranda, our client

Some guests even went out of their way to give us their comments about the event.

It was definitely the perfect space for Miranda. It perfectly fit in with her style, the selection of cocktails seemed to hit everyone’s tastes and the dumplings were delicious – especially those chive and pork ones! – Mother of the birthday girl

“Great job on being so organised, it’s great to see it going so smoothly.” – Bar Staff

“So much fun, a beautiful night.” – Taso, Party guest

If you ever need a low-maintenance, all-planned event, don’t forget to call or email a Nerd.
